(DC) [Former prisoners of war Major James ROWE - says North Vietnam camp treatment of POWs bad; of 8 POWs, 3 died of starvation and disease, 1 executed, 3 released.]

(Studio) Former prisoners of war now training navy pilots.

(Pensacola, Florida) Former prisoners of war Lieutenant David Matheny, 1 of 9 POWs to be released by North Vietnam, now training pilots. [MATHENY - says want to forget was POW, fly planes, train pilots.] North Vietnam cites Matheny, acting as pilot trainer, reason why no more POWs have been released. [David DELLINGER - says North Vietnam affronted by former POWs used to train pilots.] [MATHENY - says never promised anyone wouldn't be pilot again; United States needs defense, will do my part.] Geneva accords state no repatriated person may be employed on active military service. State and Defense Depts. interpret accords to mean no former POWs may be combatants.
