(Studio) Defense Secretary Melvin Laird opposes Senator McGovern's views on defense spending. He broadens attack to include Vietnam war issue.

(Pentagon) Laird implies McGovern made deal to keep F-15 fighter plane alive to get Eagleton (from Saint Louis, Missouri, home of McDonnell Douglas, contractors) to be his running mate. [LAIRD - says McGovern's promise, that American POWs in Vietnam will be released within 90 days of his inauguration, is not a legitimate one.]
