(Studio) United Airlines laying off employees due to slow business
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite

(Chicago, Illinois) United cuts back 153 flights per day, lays off 100 stewardesses, 394 pilots. [Pilot Robert RINEHART - will hurt those with fin. commitments; pilots flooding market, many have no other skills if can't get pilot jobs.] [Stewardess Brenda SHEPARD - points out no indication this would happen.] [Stewardess Wendy LEWALLAN - knew about pilot furloughs, but no one thought stewardesses would be laid off.]
