(Studio) Yesterday, AFL-CIO refused to endorse Senator McGovern for President Today individual unions in the big labor organization make own decisions.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner

(DC) [Machinists president Floyd SMITH - says money has been collected since 1971 for purpose of defeating Nixon and it will be used for McGovern.] [Printing pressmen president, A.J. ROMAN - approves of McGovern's voting record. Will do everything in his power to secure McGovern's election.] [American Federal of State, County, Municipal Employees president Jerry WURF - says AFL-CIO President George Meany's stand against McGovern is wrong. Wants to see Nixon defeated.] [Meatcutters president, Patrick GORMAN - says sitting on sidelines of election is not the answer. Says Meany knows most union leaders will do everything they can for McGovern.] McGovern will probably also get endorsements from communications workers, electrical workers, retail clerks, and clothing workers, among others.

(Studio) In subsequent reports other labor leaders will be interviewed, some of whom may not support McGovern.
