(Studio) Commerce Department approves license for Mcdonnell Douglas Company to ship $21 million airliner to Russia for sales demonstration. Boeing Corp. works on agreement to sell 10 707's to Mainland China. Boeing recovering after loss of supersonic transport contract.

(Seattle, WA) Recession and cutbacks in military spending hit Boeing hard. Many employees laid off. Unemployment reached 16%. Due to fantastic sales drive, many planes now being sold.
