(Studio) Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Herbert has accused Major General John Barnes and Colonel J. Ross Franklin of covering up war crimes committed in Vietnam War.

(DC) Because of failure to be promoted last 2 times eligible, army regulations require Herbert to resign by March, 1972. [HERBERT - says only bad comments on efficiency reports written by Barnes and Franklin; believes being forced to retired as warning to other officers not to reveal war crimes; knows of other officers planning to testify to war crimes when ret.; believes army wants charges against Barnes and Franklin dropped.] Pentagon says cases against Barnes and Franklin not affected by Herbert retirement.
