(Studio) White House aide, General Alexander Haig, tries to deal with South Vietnam President Thieu for quick Vietnam cease-fire and Christmas homecoming for American servicemen and POW's. Thieu demands wholesale Communist withdrawal from South Vietnam.

(Saigon, South Vietnam) American ambassador to South Vietnam, Ellsworth Bunker, greets Haig at airport. He will try to reach compromise for peace with Thieu. Thieu seems ready to accept international supervised election, but not a coalition government
