(Studio) Police arrest 1000 demonstrators during last phase of Republican conv. who were trying to keep delegates out of hall.

(Miami Beach, Florida) Mass arrests carried out quickly and according to plan. Few complaints of brutality cited. As each nondelegate was arrested, he was photographed, fingerprinted, and had bail set. Police Chief Rocky Pomerance praises police. Use of gas said indiscriminate. Delegates affected by gas. At Flamingo Park today, nondelegates head home. Protesters collect bail money for arrested comrades.
