Governor Edwin Edwards tells black students militant leaders responsible for deaths. Edwards booed by group. In Baton Rouge, LA, 2 investigations begin. In New Orleans students at Southern University campus hold rally.

(New Orleans, Louisiana) Classes scheduled for today boycotted. [Field director Joe HAMMOND - says whites trying to destroy Southern University because is center of black culture.] Student body president Earl PICARD - says must resist integration. Students apathetic.

(Baton Rouge, LA) 2 separate investigations under way. Black peoples' committee of inquiry distrusts official committee and holds hearings of own. Julian Bond, Georgia legislator, a mbr., but not present at today's hearing. Mbrs. of Attorney General William Guste's biracial committee also meet. [GUSTE - having trouble getting students to appear.]
