(Studio) Secretary of State William Rogers attacks Senator Edmund Muskie's criticism of President Nixon's Vietnam peace proposal.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite
(DC) [MUSKIE - says plan is merely rewording of proposals which have already been offered and refused.] [ROGERS - says Muskie speech will be harmful to prospects of negotiations to end Vietnam War.]
REPORTER: Bernard Shaw
(Studio) Muskie replies to Rogers' attack with his own proposal.
(DC) [MUSKIE - says North Vietnam has rejected Nixon plan but would respond to Muskie's to set firm date for withdrawal.]
