(Studio) President commission makes recommendations on population control.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite

(DC) Commission advises liberalizing abortion laws in each state, and include abortion in health insurance plans. [US Catholic Conf. Monsignor James T. MCHUGH - denounces proposal.] (Chairperson, Commission on Population Growth, John D. ROCKEFELLER III - says measure would strengthen bonds of family life by enabling planning of child bearing so each newborn infant will be wanted.] Other recommendations include lifting restrictions on voluntary sterilization; access to contraception; same for minors; sex adversising for all; and end to concept of illegitimacy. President Nixon has already said abortion is unacceptable form of population control.
