(Studio) Today was deadline for Environmental Protection Agency announcement of approval or disapproval of state plans for meeting Federal Pollution Control Standards. Admin. William Ruckelshaus approves cleanup plans of 9 states: Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina, West Virginia, Connecticut, North Dakota, and OR. 41 other states will have to make changes. Ruckelshaus grants 2-yr. extension to 25 cities in meeting Federal deadlines for holding air pollution to acceptable levels.
