(Studio) While California voters go to polls, Senators George McGovern and Hubert Humphrey await decision vital to their president hopes. McGovern returns from trip to Houston, Texas (where he tried to mollify skeptical Democrat govs. at Govs. Conf.) to learn of birth of grandson in Los Angeles. Humphrey says he will do better than polls show. New Jersey, NM, and South Dakota also hold primaries, and are expected to go McGovern. Representative John Ashbrook makes conservative challenge to President Nixon on Republican side.

(Los Angeles, California) By time California polls open, 40,000 McGovern volunteers off and running to make sure McGovern vote gets to polls.
