(Studio) Senator Edmund Muskie rumored ready to withdraw from Democrat Presidential race, throwing his delegate strength to Senator George McGovern.

(Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) [MUSKIE - says he has made no decision about backing McGovern; continues with own candidacy.]

(Studio) Muskie meets with McGovern in DC.
(DC) Muskie's own staff, several Senators who have backed him, expect withdrawal announcement when Muskie addresses National Press Club tomorrow. He may them endorse McGovern. Muskie controls 197 delegates, enough to clinch McGovern's nomination [MCGOVERN - says Muskie wants Democratic party united, harmonious convention and defeat of Nixon in fall.] McGovern also meets briefly with Humphrey.
