(DC) Joseph Califano argued for Democratic credentials committee , urging court to stay out of political New dispute arises about where Chicago delegation will sleep. [Challenger's Attorney Wayne WHALEN - expect national party to turn over rooms allocated to Daley delegation.]

(DC) McGovern assistant campaign manager Richard Stearns calls California decision a steal. [STEARNS - says if an independent party were formed, would like to run against Humphrey. Says Humphrey has discredited himself and his own credibility.] Humphrey campaign manager, Jack Chestnut, said talk of punishment for Humphrey is irresponsible, emotional blackmail. Mike Maloney, Humphrey's deputy campaign manager, asked how crucial California decision will be to nomination. [MALONEY - says if California majority report adopted, finishes his chance for 1st ballot nomination. If minority report prevails, his nomination not insured.] Both sides plan intensive lobbying on California issue.

(DC) Challenges in 30 states and 1 territory concerning 1289 people considered. At present, of the 3177 voting delegates going to Miami: 39.7% women, 21.4% under 30, 15.1% black, 4.6% Spanish spking. [Blair LEE III, Maryland - Resolution: Credentials committee expresses to Mrs. Patricia Harris and Democratic party gratitude and total satisfaction with her performance in office.] [Chairperson credentials committee , Patricia Roberts HARRIS - lauds committee performance.
