(DC) Republican convention delegates will be mostly white, middle-aged, and male. Republicans try to open up party for 1976, but without quotas. Chairperson American Jewish Committee, Philip Hoffman, concerned about drift toward quotas, calling it a new form of discrimination. Says rights are for individuals in American, not for groups. Merit, not quotas, should determine advancement.
