(Studio) Forest fire burns out of control in California.
REPORTER: Roger Mudd
(Big Sur, California) Fire, touched off by campfire, causes shroud of smoke over redwood valleys of Big Sur State Park. Campers evacuate. 1000 fire fighters descend on area. [Fire boss Richard BAWCOM - says efforts made with bulldozers to save coastal wilderness.] Mtn. winds spread fire. Bombers spray fire retardants. 15,000 acres will probably be destroyed.
