(Studio) Senator Thomas Eagleton and McGovern campaign coordinator Frank Mankiewicz try to end controversy over conversation when Eagleton was told he was Vice President nomination Reporter Robert Hardy, KNOX-Radio, Saint Louis, Missouri, was in Eagleton's motel room when call came in.
REPORTER: Roger Mudd

(Saint Louis, Missouri) [HARDY - plays tape of conversation.] [EAGLETON accepts Vice President bid (on tape recording). Talks with Mankiewicz.]

(Studio) Mankiewicz says he asked Eagleton a series of questions about his background. Eagleton's aides say Senator did not go back to telephone after Hardy's tape ends. Eagleton and Mankiewicz agree no statements made about Sen's. health.
