(Chicago, Illinois) McGovern handshakes way around county. Arrives in Chicago with Mrs. McGovern. Seems to seek confrontation with President Nixon. Nixon does not respond.

(Logan, West Virginia) [McGOVERN - says Nixon Gallup poll-sitter.] (Chicago) In response to reporter question [McGOVERN - expresses hope of smoking Nixon out, for sake of United States people.] McGovern said displeased with his own tactics; tour will be cut short for television fireside chats. Nixon behavior said baffling to McGovern. Reporter says Nixon prefers being called "Richard M. President."
