(Studio) In New Orleans, Mayor Moon Landrieu says doesn't believe shoot-out in downtown hotel stemmed from national conspiracy. 7 killed in incident, incl. sniper Mark Essex. Essex grew up in Emporia, Kansas.

(Emporia, Kansas) Essex's body returned to Emporia. Boy's father says Essex humiliated by racism in Navy to extent that he went AWOL, was court-martialed and discharged from Navy. [Essex sister Mrs. Penny FOX - says Essex changed in Navy. Wanted to help black people.] [Mrs. ESSEX - says son wanted things to change. Was trying to let American know blacks not taking any more.]
