(DC) Senator Hubert Humphrey calls veto most inhumane veto President ever handed down. Senator Taft says bill inflationary. Liberal Republicans like Percy and Case, vote against Nixon, but 4 South Democrats and Independent Harry Byrd vote with him. [Republican whip Robert GRIFFIN - says Republicans for fiscal responsibility.] [Democrat whip Robert BYRD - says difficult to override veto.] [Senator Alan CRANSTON - says hopes future efforts to override vetoes will be more successful.]
