(Studio) Senator For. Relations Committee killed nomination of former Laos ambassador G. McMurtrie Godley as Assistant Secretary of State for E. Asian and Pacific Affairs yesterday. White House fires back.
REPORTER: Roger Mudd

(DC) Admin. called for 3 Senators visiting China to cast vote but even that didn't pull off nomination of Godley. Admin. says action deplorable. Godley rejected because carried out orders in Laos. Although highly qualified officer, White House says innocent man caught in battle between Congress and White House with regard to Indochina war.
