(Studio) General Earle Wheeler defends secret Cambodia bombings in `69 and `70 before Senator Armed Services Committee
REPORTER: Roger Mudd
(DC) Wheeler says President approved secret bombings in 1969. [WHEELER - states he never authorized anyone to make false reports on secret bombings. Doesn't believe any reports to Congress were false.] When asked if President or Secretary Defense ordered false rpting., Wheeler replies negatively. Wheeler states, some officials had inaccurate information but Pentagon didn't want to keep bombings from Congress Senator Harold Hughes reacts to Wheeler's testimony.
