(Studio) Bahama Islands formerly under British rule. To begin self-government Tuesday

(Nassau, Bahamas) After 300 years, Bahamians to be independent nation. National symbols already on display and independence rally planned. Transition in power from whites to blacks. Prime Min. Lynden Pindling deserves much credit for placing blacks in key positions to benefit the mostly black nation. Tourism is big economy builder. Most feel transition of power too smooth to help poor blacks in Bahama Islands. Nothing much changed in many people's opinion.
