(Studio) Former Attorney General and Nixon's campaign director John Mitchell meets with Senate Watergate committee in preparation for 1st day of testimony at Watergate hearings, beginning Tuesday

(Capitol Hill) After 4 hrs. with Senate committee Mitchell in good spirits. Senator source says Mitchell's meeting with committee filled with denials. Mitchell says didn't approve bugging; President not implicated; and Jeb Magruder was behind cover-up operation. Admits approving money for Liddy's and Hunt's silence so Presidential campaign not harmed. Didn't tie Chas. Colson into Watergate scandal at meeting today.
