(Capitol Hill) [Majority leader Thomas O'NEILL - believes President should resign in interest of country because of credibility lack. [Republican leader John RHODES - thinks White House should cooperate with impeachment probe.] Rhodes for resignation if President impeached 1st.

(Capitol Hill) [Senator Robert C. BYRD - advises President to resign if he'-s impeached Senator Carl Curtis attempts to keep new Ohio Senator Howard Metzenbaum from being sworn in till tax investigation begun. However, Vice President Gerald Ford swears in Metzenbaum after Curtis' move rejected.
