(DC) Labor Department releases unemployment figures. Commerce Department says worst economy slump came in September; index of economy indicators down 3.3% In October, index down 1.3%. Department of Commerce spokesperson discusses figures. Fed. Reserve Bd. Arthur Burns says oil prices are key to economy [BURNS - believes stronger measures needed to reduce domestic consumption of oil.] Ford opposes higher gas tax, but Burns supports it.
