(Studio) Grenada celebrates independence from British rule, but general strike and political discord keeps celebration muted.

(Grenada, West Indies) Prime Min. Eric Gairy sends militiamen to arrest opposition leader Maurice Bishop. [GAIRY - says Bishop arrested far violating laws of cntry.] Formal independence ceremonies go on as scheduled despite fires and continuing unrest.
