(Studio) After volcano eruption last year people return to rebuild Heimaey.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite

(Heimaey, Iceland) No citizens died during volcano eruption but 1/3 of hses. destroyed by volcano. Govt. pays for hses. to be patched till new ones built. [Mayor Magnus MAGNUSSON - says community isolated and self supporting; Heimaey citizens refuse to desert town.] Heimaey citizens put hot ash to work; by pumping cold water through ash, water reaches 1500 F. Citizens discuss reasons for returning to Heimaey after volcano erupted.
