(Studio) President visits 8th congress district in Michigan to campaign for Republican James Sparling in upcoming special congress election, although Sparling didn't ask President to campaign for him.
REPORTER: Roger Mudd

(8th district, Michigan) Governor William Milliken and Senator Robert Griffin greet President along with Sparling. [PRES. - praises Sparling.] President stays away from large towns and visits rural areas with solid Republican contingency. [PRES.- says inflation can be beaten but Congress must act and Congress needs Sparling.]
