(Boston, Massachusetts) Dr. Kenneth Edelin on trial for manslaughter for abortion performed in 1973. Prosecutor Newman Flanagan charges Edelin killed 24-wk. old unborn male. Defense attorney William Homans disputes child could have survived. Central issue in case is when fetus becomes human person. [FLANAGAN - says termination of pregnancy and termination of life 2 distinct issues in case.]
