(Portugal) Leftist paratroopers and Air Force representatives seize Air Force bases and communications installations. Supreme Revolutionary Council met at president palace to fire radical general, Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho, regional military commander Replaced with pro-government captain Farmers shut down large part of transport system. Anti-Communists barricade major hwys. 2 major rail lines also cut off. Farmers protested Communist land confiscation program. Roadblocks removed just before leftists acted.
