(Studio) House passes bill 208-199 for consumer protection agency.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite
DC) Ford has promised veto for a new government agency. Amendment to bill would unite all government protection agencies into central agency. Representative Pete McCloskey says $20 billion could be saved. Representative John Erlenborn says McCloskey's plan would tell existing agencies to keep hands off; he doubts if money would be saved. If Ford prevails, there'll be no new agency.
