(Studio) Report on well-known Chinese family doctor follows.
REPORTER: Harry Reasoner

(Peking, China) Born in New York, George Haden stopped in China 37 years ago on way back to states. Stunned by poverty, early death, rampant disease, Haden remained in China. Known by his Chinese name, Dr. Ma Hai Tey is regarded highly throughout China. [Dr. MA - explains his hygiene introd. to medical personnel. Describes clean-up campaigns to combat cholera and other deadly diseases bred by filth.] Asked about sudden turn in US, Chinese relations [MA - believes relations to be historically important and useful.] Questioned about regrets. [Dr. MA - has no regrets.] Dr. Ma requests Americans visit China and discover a wonderful cntry.
