(Nazareth, Israel) 2 weeks ago. Communist mayor elected in Nazareth despite threats from Israeli cabinet members [Nazareth Mayor Tawfik ZAYID - thinks Jesus Christ stood for poor all the time. We meet on that point.] Zayid's election seen as answer to Israeli neglect of Arab cities. Old Nazareth neglected, but Israel built new modern Nazareth for immigrants. Zayid thinks cross and hammer and sickle can peacefully live together.
