(Studio) Some relief comes to San Francisco schools' athletic programs. Bd. of education cuts athletic programs in effort to save money.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite

(San Francisco, California) Bd. of education plans to ax all extracurricular activities. [Athlete Anthony KHING - says chances for scholarships being ruined.] $75,000 already earned as result of Mayor Joseph Alioto's efforts to raise funds by business gifts. [School superintendent Steve MORENA - says education system can't be maintained once basic skills adversely affected.] Students protest program cuts.
