REPORTER: Walter Cronkite
(DC) President plans to ask Congress for more aid to South Vietnam; country may be falling, but President doesn't want to appear he's pushing from behind. President implies Thieu made wrong decision in pulling back from South Vietnam occupied areas; if Congress appropriated funds things might have been different. This reporter believes lack of leadership and initiative brought downfall, not lack of arms. Mr. Ford reassures allies of US faithfulness.
