(Studio) President allows bill to become law without signing or vetoing it. Bill gives wide-reaching subpoena power to Senate Watergate committee

(Capitol Hill) [Senator Sam ERVIN - believes law shouldn't be necessary to force President to release documents and tapes with regard to Watergate. President has responsibility to release important evidence.] Questioned about subpoenas. [ERVIN - thinks President will accept subpoenas.] White House lawyers confirm fact that President to accept subpoenas; no word on compliance.

(DC) 1 of White House tapes turns up as featured entertainment at Georgetown social event. Nader organization subpoenaed tape involving dairy industry and `72 campaign contributions. Nader attorney William Dobrovir recd. tape; Dobrovir responsible for tape playing. Press Secretary Ron Ziegler dumbfounded by Dobrovir's actions. Special Watergate prosecutor Leon Jaworski's aide expresses upset over Dobrovir's antics.
