(Chicago, Illinois) Ford has courted Catholic vote at Eucharistic Conf. in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Carter in Polish Hill in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. No. of Catholic voters and voting records noted. Catholic support of Nixon in 1972 noted. [Columnist Reverend Andrew GREELEY - assesses Catholic support of Ford and Carter, recalling George McGovern.] Greeley's view with regard to Ford's influence with Polish Catholics after statement with regard to eastern Europe cited. Results of CBS News-"New York (New York) Times" polls noted. [Sociologist Reverend Thomas GANNON - notes conservative increase] (October 3, 1976 film shown.) [PASTOR - speaks to congregation with regard to abortion and constitutional amendment.] Polls show public opinion doesn't consider abortion campaign issue. Statements with regard to candidate stands by conference of Catholic bishops noted. Pol. analysts say Carter's South Baptist faith is factor to consider, and regardless of how Catholics vote, they will vote.
