(Studio) Audio failure at 1st debate much in mind in preparation for 2nd debate.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite

(San Francisco, California) Reporter notes details with regard to debate preparation. [MAN - announces Carter people won coin toss so Carter will take 1st question and do 1st summary.] Audio equipment noted; CBS News producer Jack Kelley, in charge of debate, says there will be no audio failure. League of Women Voters decide lighted pictures of backs of audience heads will be allowed and that panel should ask follow-up questions only if necessary.
