(Studio) According to 2 national surveys, Jimmy Carter is slight winner in 2nd pres. debate. President Ford had to explain 2 remarks made in debate re: naming of American firms cooperating in Arab boycott of Israel and that USSR isn't dominating eastern Europe ntns. To add to Ford troubles report comes out today that September wholesale prices make sharpest rise in 11 mos.

[FORD - says he's aware of plight of eastern Europe ntns. and quotes statement with regard to US. support of aspirations for freedom and national determination for all people from 1976 Captive Nation Proclamation.] Ford visits B-1 bomber building site in Los Angeles and says Carter trying to cancel or delay bomber program. [FORD - says opponents have turned Theodore Roosevelt's statement with regard to speaking softly and carrying big stick around; they want to speak loudly and carry flyswatter.] Close political aides say debate statement with regard to eastern European ntns. has caused political trouble to be felt for long time.
