(Studio) Utah supreme court grants request of Gary Mark Gilmore to die before firing squad on Monday morning.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite

(Salt Lake City, UT) Court proceedings noted; Utah attorney general-elect and Gilmore's attorney argue for his right to die; court-apptd. attorney, whom Gilmore says no longer represents him, argues action would be suicide. Court reverses stay of execution in 4-1 decision and says all further appeals dismissed. American Civil Liberties Union spokesperson say other steps to stop it can and will be taken.
