(Studio) Small, fuel-efficient cars not selling well at present.

(Detroit, Michigan) Effect of slow sales in small cars on AMC, Chrysler Corp. and GM. AMC and GM's Chevrolet division offer cash rebates; Chrysler will have to lay off workers. General Motors Corporation has had to shut down Lordstown, Ohio, plant; its cash rebates are on Chevrolet Vega and Chevette. [Chevrolet sales manager Robert COOK - comments on reasons for losses in subcompact car market] GM says slump only temporary.
