(Studio) Carter casts vote in Plains, Georgia; rests before going to Atlanta.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite

(Plains, Georgia) [CARTER - says he's confident; voted for Walter Mondale and running mate.] Sendoff from Plains noted. [CARTER - says if any of crowd hasn't voted they're excused to do so and come back.] Voter turnout said heavy by aides. [CARTER - says he's confident and hopes feeling of togetherness as Americans has spread from him to all of country and will be basis of administration if elected.] Will stay in Atlanta till winner declared.
