(Studio) President places deputy Secretary Treasury William Simon in cmd. of all aspects of energy crisis.
REPORTER: Howard K. Smith

(DC) [PRES. - emphasizes all government agencies to help in solving energy crisis by cooperation.] [Federal energy administration SIMON - states goal for dealing with energy crisis.] Simon to take any necessary steps to meet goal. [SIMON - knows gasoline consumption must be decreased. Gasoline rationing and taxes may be necessary to deal with crisis.] Simon questioned about high gasoline costs. [SIMON - says decision re: rationing to be made before gasoline costs reach unacceptable level. To be decided before December ends.]
