(Studio) Report on Illinois primary and battle for control of convention delegates.
REPORTER: Walter Cronkite
(Chicago, Illinois) Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley doesn't care who wins president primary. He wants loyal convention delegates to win. Senator Adlai Stevenson says he wasn't pressured by Daley to run as favorite son candidate. Governor Dam. Walker also runs as favorite son with full slate of delegates. [WALKER - doesn't believe in back room politics and politicians that have permeated Illinois. Any Democrat in Illinois who wants to run for state office must ask 1 man.] [DALEY - says nothing vindictive in this campaign.] Daley may not hate anyone, but he never forgets.
