(Studio) 7 American warships of 6th fleet head toward Lebanon to help 1500 Americans in Beirut evacuate. State Department says ex-amb. L. Dean Brown leaving for Beirut to assess situation and help in cease-fire efforts. United Nations Secretary General Kurt Waldheim alerts Security Council to gravity of situation. Arab press reports say Syria asked US, France and Vatican to guarantee that Israel wouldn't intervene if Syria crossed into Lebanon to stop fighting. US warns any country of intervention. Leftists advance toward Christian headquarters at Ashrafiyah.
