(VT) Each March for 175 years, people of Strafford meet on their holiday for democracy at town meeting. Old white meeting house built in 1799 shown. Used as town hall since 1801. Everyone speaks on all issues. [Farmer David BROWN - talks about mental health proposal.] [Moderator James CONDICT - calls for votes. He reports results.] Vermont towns continue tradition of democracy at work in town meeting Secret ballot held with regard to issue of street lights. Refreshments and food provided. [CONDICT - calls for vote to adjourn.] Vote is nay. People preserving their liberty here.
