(Studio) Washington, DC may not draw throngs of tourists this year as expected.

(DC) Washington, DC primping up for bicentennial celebration. Nos. of expected visitors revised downwards. Many businessmen investing in bicentennial ventures lose money. [Hotel association DC, Leonard HICKMAN - thinks publicity with regard to crowds has turned some people off.] [Holiday Hosts, Hilda BAUM - talks with residents who offer their homes for tourists to stay in. ] Even this service has empty homes. Many people visiting White House but large numbers not using commercial accommodations. [TOURIST - reacts to visit to DC; stays with brother] Throngs of tourists staying away because of fear of crowds.
