REPORTER: Roger Mudd
(West Virginia) John Brown crept into Harper's Ferry on October 16, 1859. His life described. He and 17 others meant to seize United States Armory and arm slaves of South so they could fight for their freedom. Plan failed. United States Marines under Co1. Robert E. Lee stormed fire house where Brown had been under siege. He and 4 survivors tried for their crimes in Charlestown. Brown hanged for his crimes. Brown's truths noted.
